£4.00 – £8.00Ready for the next talk from the BRLSI Bicentenary series? The Oriental Club treasures its rich history and the extraordinary characters who have been associated with it, since the Duke of Wellington became the Club’s first and only President in 1824. In literature, it has been a reference point throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with novelists such as William Thackeray and Lytton Strachey referencing the Club, and countless others affiliated to its stable of colourful characters.
The Oriental Club is proud of its rich heritage, some of which is catalogued amongst the impressive collection of books in the library, and an extensive art and artefact collection bringing the history of the club to life.
Laurence Singlehurst, Vice-Chairman of the Oriental Club, comes to BRLSI to explore the history of the institution, drawing on its illustrious past, present and future.
