To celebrate the restoration of two nineteenth-century globes donated to BRLSI, Laurence Worms has been invited to speak about John Senex, an eighteenth-century bookseller, mapmaker and the finest English globemaker of his day. Previously unknown material on the life of this unjustly forgotten man will set him in the wider context of the science and culture of his times, and make a case for his key role in the making of the modern world.
Laurence Worms former President, Antiquarian Booksellers Association, and co-author of the standard work on British map engravers, has lectured widely on aspects of the history of the London map trade.
