Busting Myths and Understanding the Realities of Additive Manufacturing
20 October 2020
Over recent years increasing attention has been paid to the transformative potential of 3D printing - to revolutionise the things we produce, where we produce them and to even save lives. Popular media has predicted that we will be using domestic 3D printers to make consumer goods, fundamentally restructuring global production supply chains and ending traditional manufacturing as we know it. Meanwhile the 3D printing industry has been evolving and developing the business models that underpin the use of additive manufacturing methods. This talk will use qualitative data collected with business leaders in the sector over the last three years to offer a more realistic assessment of the capabilities of the technology and the impacts we can expect to see in our daily lives.
