Natural Resource Governance: The Case of  Sierra Leone

Diamond mining is Sierra Leone’s most lucrative export industry, with an annual production value of ~$250m. However, only a fraction of this wealth returns to the local people with International traders reaping vast rewards.

This talk will begin with a half-hour documentary film: Voices from the Mine: Artisanal Diamonds and Resource Governance in Sierra Leone by Dr Roy Maconachie who will then speak on the issues and opportunities.
