Recital by Niall Hoskin (baritone) and Steven Hollas (pianist)

An die ferne Geliebte - Ludwig van Beethoven
Dichterliebe - Robert Schumann

The evening will begin with a brief introduction to Lieder in general and the two cycles in detail. After the performance of the Beethoven, which lasts about 15 minutes, there will be an interval when wine and light refreshments will be sold. The Schumann song cycle, which lasts about half an hour, will follow.
The words of the songs will be projected in German and English
There will be time afterwards for the audience to mingle, drink and chat.

Niall Hoskin read Modern Languages and sang in the choir at Clare College, Cambridge. Having taught and sung in German ever since, he now works as a free-lance translator and continues to perform in oratorio, opera and recitals.
Steven Hollas read music at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He now teaches piano, organ and harpsichord, mostly at the Wiltshire Music Centre.
