£3.00 – £6.00Most Bathonians recognise St John’s as one of the city’s most well-established charities, but did you know that 2024 marks its 850th birthday?
Founded by monks, St John’s survived the Middle Ages, the Black Death, Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries and the Civil War, providing succour to the poor, the hungry and the homeless. John Wood created one of his earliest buildings for St John’s.
Today, as one of Bath’s most venerable institutions, it continues to support the elderly, and now helps children to achieve their best potential as well. Come and find out everything you needed to know about an institution as integral to Bath life as its spa waters.
David Hobdey is Chief Executive Officer and Carole Laverick is Administrative Co-Ordinator, St John’s Foundation
