Friend or Foe? Artificial Intelligence represents one of the most discussed phenomenon of our time, covering all aspects of modern life. AI is seen by some as a panacea for the world’s problems, by others as a chimera, heralding in the end of the era of humanity. Given this context, this talk explores the important dimensions of the history of AI, its current state of play and its possible future trajectories. According to the UN, Artificial Intelligence represents a global existential issue which needs to be consciously understood and managed much better than we do now.

Dept of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Bath
