Changing Perspectives: Encounters & Legacies of the Vancouver Expedition

The historian and project lead Tim Bateman will talk about Changing Perspectives, a new online exhibit funded by Digital Museums Canada (DMC) and produced by the Vancouver Maritime museum.

Tim’s talk will focus on how, by including the voices of Heiltsuk, Kwakwaka’wakw and Mowachaht/Muchalaht people, the exhibit sheds a new light on the Vancouver story demonstrating how these early encounters impact Indigenous people’s lives in the present.  The Changing Perspectives exhibit is aimed at elementary and secondary school learners, as well as the general public. The story is told through short videos, cartoons, images and suggested learning activities.  The website will be officially launched in spring 2023.
