Can shopping save the planet? Join Professor Chris Chuck for a discussion of sustainability in the supermarket.

Tackling human-induced climate change requires solutions at every level; how about in the supermarket?

In this talk, Professor Chris Chuck will give an overview of three major projects that he has led over the last few years where the team has taken a fundamental scientific idea, modelled the economic and climate impacts and further developed the technology through to commercialisation.

These include: developing a biodegradable, seaweed alternative to petroplastic packaging, producing an edible oil to replace palm oil made from a yeast grown on waste food, and developing sustainable, alternative food products directly from grass.

Who knows what you’ll find next time you go to the shops!

Professor Christopher J Chuck, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Bath
