Reflections on reality: Raymond Tallis
Tue 2 May, 2023 at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST
£4.00 – £7.00The fundamental nature of reality has been one of the traditional preoccupations of philosophy.
In this talk Professor Tallis will look critically at the very idea of ‘reality’, at ways of thinking about the question ‘What is real?’, and at the belief that we should look to natural science to provide the most authoritative answer to this question.
He will, in particular, focus on the idea that science (evolutionary theory and physics) has demonstrated that what passes for reality in everyday is in fact an illusion.
