This year’s exhibition celebrates 200 years of BRLSI by showcasing an eclectic ‘best of’ the BRLSI Collections. Learn more about the exhibits on show and the history of the Institution on one of our Guided Tours. Among the many items on show are;
- Romano-British enamelled brooch, dated to the 1st or 2nd century AD, excavated in Lansdown, Bath in 1905. Most of the Institution’s Roman artefacts are on loan to the Roman Baths, where many of them are displayed.
- Nelson’s Brandy phial – See the bottle containing liquor in which the body of Lord Nelson was preserved after the Battle of Trafalgar.
- A selection of Victorian photography of Bath by Rev. Francis Lockey, providing interesting documentation of how the city looked 170 years ago.
The exhibition is free to enter and our free guided tours last 45 minutes. Please arrive just before your booked session at our exhibition space; BRLSI, 16 Queen Square, Bath, BA1 2HN.
